
Hello CrossFit world! Our names are Justin and Mary East. We have been married for 22 years and have two kiddos, Ethan (17) and Eva (14). In 2017, Justin was going to turn 40 that summer and declared he was going to get into the” best shape of his life”. Well, although we both had been going to the traditional gym on and off, I had to step it up because I couldn’t let him beat me. So, I joined CrossFit and have been hooked ever since.
CrossFit was challenging but doable right off of the bat! I was supported and encouraged by my gym-mates and I started lifting weights for the first time in my life. I tried to get Justin to join but it wasn’t until 2021 did he jump in the CrossFit life with me. Little did we know how much of an impact it would make on the two little sets of eyes that saw us make fitness a priority. Our kids make exercise and sports a priority too. We often have family competitions at home with who can do more sit-ups or pushups or the latest challenge was who can do a “pistol”?? Now that our kids are getting older, I think about growing older with them and how CrossFit is allowing us to have the strength and endurance to continue to keep up with them, no matter what stage of life they're in.
One main draw to CrossFit is the community and friendships we have created. For the person that wants to try CrossFit, but doesn’t think they have what it takes? I am here to say, you can scale and build up to it. There are so many levels of athleticism here, there’s also so many ages and body types. Just come out here and MOVE with us:)
